Tom Hoy Award

About Tom Hoy

Tom Hoy moved to Broomfield 21 yrs ago, firstly becoming a school govenor, then 15 yrs ago a Parish Councillor, he liked to make sure Broomfield was represented on the council and at one point was Chairman for a few years.

Tom came up with many ideas, always read the minutes at meetings to make sure there were no mistakes and tried his best for the community.

A few years ago he started a campaign for better Broadband in Broomfield, when he became ill Roy Royer took it over and thanks        to both of them Superfast Broad band has now arrived.

Tom died on the 13th of November from a rare and aggressive cancer.

Thank you Tom for being quietly caring, you will be sadly missed.

Tom Hoy Award Winners 2024

Thank you to all those residents who took the time to vote and massive congratulations to our Tom Hoy Award winners 2024;

Ceridwen Clarke and Speedwatch

This year the award worked slightly differently to previous years, it was separated into two awards. The first award for a local group, organisation or business and the second for an individual. Once the closing date for nominations was reached all nominations were        considered by a panel and a winner for each category was chosen. This meant that even if there was only one nomination for this individual/organisation they would still have a chance of winning. This years nominees are listed below and Councillors would like to express their thanks and appreciation for everything each and everyone of you does for our community.
